surface preparation standards, multi-coat protective coating systems, and work closely with inspectors to ensure all coating applications meet owner specifications and manufacturer requirements. Responsibilities Perform abrasive blasting to
SSPC/NACE/AMPP
surface preparation standards (SP-5, SP-6, SP-10, SP-11, etc.). Operate blast pots, air dryers, compressors, breathing air systems, and industrial spray equipment. Apply industrial protective coating systems including: Zinc-rich primers Epoxy coatings High-build epoxies Polyurethane finish coats Apply coatings using conventional, pressure pot, and airless spray equipment. Mix coatings according to manufacturer specifications, induction times, and pot life requirements. Measure and verify wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT). Monitor environmental conditions including surface temperature, ambient temperature, dew point, and relative humidity before and during coating application. Perform holiday testing and visual coating inspections when required. Read and interpret coating specifications, inspection reports, and project quality documentation. Work directly with
NACE/AMPP
coating inspectors, customer representatives, and quality control personnel. Ensure all work meets project specifications, owner requirements, and coating manufacturer recommendations. Maintain blasting and painting equipment in safe operating condition. Complete daily production reports and quality documentation. Follow all OSHA, confined space, respiratory protection, and industrial safety procedures. Qualifications 2+ years of industrial blasting and protective coating experience preferred. Experience in pipeline, natural gas, refinery, petrochemical, power plant, or heavy industrial environments. Knowledge of
SSPC/AMPP
(formerly NACE) surface preparation standards. Experience applying multi-coat industrial protective coating systems. Ability to achieve specified anchor profiles and coating thickness requirements. Familiarity with coating manufacturers such as Carboline, Sherwin-Williams, PPG, International Paint, Tnemec, or Belzona. Ability to read coating specifications and manufacturer product data sheets. Experience working around quality control inspectors and customer representatives. Valid driver's license. Ability to lift 75 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments.
