Industrial Painter Canton, OH From $23 an hour - Full-time From $23 an hour - Full-time Industrial Painter Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Industrial Painter to join our team. The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces and applying protective coatings to structural steel, industrial equipment, tanks, piping, and fabricated components using airless spray systems and other coating application methods. This position requires knowledge of industrial coating systems, surface preparation standards, and quality control procedures to ensure coatings meet customer and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience applying zinc primers, epoxy coatings, and urethane topcoats in industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare surfaces for painting through cleaning, grinding, sanding, blasting, masking, and other preparation methods. Mix and apply industrial coatings according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements. Operate and maintain airless spray equipment, conventional spray equipment, and related painting tools. Apply a variety of industrial coating systems including: Zinc-rich primers Epoxy coatings Urethane topcoats Specialty industrial coatings Monitor environmental conditions to ensure coatings are applied within specification requirements. Measure and verify coating thickness using wet film and dry film gauges. Inspect completed work for proper coverage, adhesion, finish quality, and compliance with project specifications. Maintain paint equipment, hoses, pumps, and spray guns in proper working condition. Follow all safety procedures related to coating application, confined spaces, respiratory protection, and hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Assist with material handling, staging, and movement of painted products as needed. Complete production and quality documentation as required. Work effectively with supervisors, quality personnel, and production teams to meet project deadlines. QualificationsRequired High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum 2 years of industrial painting experience. Experience operating airless spray equipment. Experience applying zinc primers, epoxy coatings, and urethane finishes. Ability to read and interpret paint specifications, technical data sheets, and work instructions. Knowledge of surface preparation methods and coating application techniques. Ability to use wet film gauges, dry film thickness gauges, and inspection tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Experience in structural steel, bridge, tank, fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments. Knowledge of
SSPC/NACE
surface preparation and coating standards. Forklift, aerial lift, or rigging experience. Experience working in a paint booth or controlled coating environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in varying positions throughout the shift. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators, protective suits, gloves, and eye protection. Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures. Desired Skills Strong work ethic and reliability.
