Military base badging ability required The Industrial Coating & Paint Specialist will execute surface preparation, corrosion control, and high-visibility painting for active and passive vehicle barrier systems (including wedge barriers, bollards, crash gates, and drop arms). This role ensures all anti-ram and traffic control structures meet structural integrity standards and military visibility regulations through rigorous preventive maintenance coatings.
Key Responsibilities Surface Preparation:
Perform abrasive blasting, mechanical sanding, needle scaling, and chemical cleaning to remove rust, scale, grease, and failing legacy paint from heavy steel structures.
Corrosion Mitigation:
Identify structural degradation and apply specialized rust-inhibiting primers, zinc-rich coatings, and moisture-cure urethanes to extend barrier service life.
Safety & Regulatory Painting:
Apply high-visibility topcoats, retroreflective safety striping, and traffic-marking paints on barriers and surrounding concrete pads according to military and Department of Transportation (DOT) visibility standards.
Mechanical Care:
Protect moving parts, hydraulic cylinders, hinges, and drainage channels during the painting process to ensure coatings do not cause mechanical binding or system failure.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial painting, commercial coating application, or military infrastructure maintenance.
Technical Knowledge:
Proficient with airless sprayers, conventional spray equipment, dual-component coatings, and standard hand/power tools for surface prep.
Certifications:
Not required;
NACE/AMPP CIP
(Coating Inspector Program) or
SSPC C-7/C-12
certifications are highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces (barrier pits), and endure outdoor weather conditions.
Compliance:
Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations, hazardous material handling (lead paint awareness), and environmental disposal protocols.
