Job Description

Job Summary:
EMS Management is seeking a skilled and experienced Industrial Painter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and painting the interior and exterior surfaces of railcars. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in various conditions, including outdoors and in confined spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare railcar surfaces through sanding, masking, and surface cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion. Utilize hand and power tools such as sanders, grinders, and wire wheels to remove old paint, rust, and other debris. Mask off areas not to be painted to protect components and surfaces. Apply various types of industrial coatings, including primers, topcoats, and specialty finishes, to railcar interiors and exteriors. Operate and maintain adequate inventory of needed supplies, equipment, and materials based on projected work flow. Follow manufacturer's specifications and company procedures for observing and monitoring environmental conditions and mixing, thinning, and applying paint. Monitor paint application to ensure uniform thickness and coverage. Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators, safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing. Safely perform work in confined spaces, following all established procedures for confined space entry and ventilation. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
General Duties:
Work effectively as part of a team to meet production deadlines. Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers. Troubleshoot and resolve basic issues related to painting equipment and processes. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as an industrial painter. Experience with surface preparation using sanders, grinders, and wire wheels. Knowledge of safety procedures for working with industrial paints and solvents. Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.). Willingness and ability to work in confined spaces, including successful completion of Confined Space Entry training. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Physical stamina and the ability to stand, crouch, and lift for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
Work will be performed in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The role involves frequent exposure to paint fumes, dust, and noise, requiring the consistent use of appropriate PPE. Confined space entry is a regular part of the job.
Pay:
$18.00 - $23.00 per hour
