Job Description
The Paint Prepper will prepare and apply coatings to equipment, components and structures using a variety of techniques and equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's specification for mixing, thinning, and spraying. They are responsible for ensuring that all quality standards are met, and surfaces are correctly prepared for coating by performing body work, body filler application, taping, masking & sanding. Additional responsibilities include the identification of defective products, performing all work in a safe manner, and cleaning and maintaining painting and coating equipment and personal protective equipment. Roles & Responsibilities Locate and remove imperfections prior to primer. Able to correctly use body filler. Able to correctly apply seam seal. Basic knowledge of mixing and applying paint for small touch ups Able to identify correct prep procedure for new parts. Follows correct procedure when prepping parts. Examine parts for defects. Ensures attention to detail. Displays correct cart hanging technics (spacing, organizing, hook capacity) Able to unmask and unload carts correctly (after painting) Basic understanding of coating equipment Demonstrates basic knowledge in the use of hand tools, sanders, grinders, polishes, paint application tools. Prepare and maintain prep equipment and tools for safety & cleanliness. Able to read and understand paint can labels. Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret basic drawings/specifications. Understand information flow and documentation. Basic understanding of routing procedures Able to read and understand work instructions. Shows basic ability to install small decals. Utilizes effective time management skills and acute punctuality. Completes daily tasks as directed
