Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Automotive Painter to join our dynamic automotive repair team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the entire painting process, ensuring every vehicle receives a flawless finish that meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. Your expertise will help transform vehicles through expert surface preparation, precise spraying techniques, and meticulous detailing. As a leader in automotive refinishing, you will mentor team members, uphold safety protocols, and drive excellence in auto body painting and restoration projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your technical skills while leading a dedicated team to deliver exceptional results. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate all aspects of auto painting, including surface preparation, masking, sanding, and finishing to achieve optimal results. Operate and maintain various spray guns such as conventional, airless, and automotive coating sprayers with precision. Perform auto body repairs, welding, and auto glass replacement as needed to prepare vehicles for painting. Ensure proper surface preparation using grinding tools, buffing machines, and hand tools to create a smooth base for painting. Apply paints, coatings, and automotive buffing techniques to restore vehicles to their original luster or custom finishes. Oversee the use of respiratory protection equipment and enforce safety protocols in accordance with OSHA standards. Collaborate with team members on vehicle maintenance tasks and auto restoration projects to ensure quality standards are met efficiently. Provide excellent customer service by communicating project progress and addressing client requests professionally. Assist with auto estimating and parts ordering to streamline workflow and meet project deadlines. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to health and safety regulations. Experience Proven dealership experience or extensive background in automotive body refinishing is highly preferred. Restoration experience is a plus. Demonstrated proficiency with welding, grinding, sanding, and the use of power tools for auto body repair. Strong mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance and auto restoration processes. Hands-on experience with surface preparation masking, automotive buffing, and painting using spray guns. Familiarity with auto estimating software and customer service best practices is a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex refinishing tasks. Prior experience working with various paints, primers, sealers, and coatings used in auto body finishing is desirable.
