As an auto body painter, you must be able to prep, mix and apply specialized coatings to vehicles to restore or customize their finish. Must be able to sand surfaces, mask non-painted areas, mix precise color formulas, and use spray equipment to lay down base coats and clear coats, ensuring a smooth, flawless, and durable result. Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation:

Wash, sand, mask, and prime vehicle surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion and eliminate flaws.

Color Matching:

Utilize spectrophotometers and paint-mixing systems to exactly match existing factory colors or create custom paint formulas.

Paint Application:

Operate high-volume low-pressure (HVLP) spray guns to apply base coats, clear coats, and specialty finishes in a controlled spray booth.

Quality Control:

Inspect painted units for defects (runs, sags, orange peel) and correct them through wet sanding, buffing, and polishing.

Safety & Compliance:

Strictly follow OSHA and EPA regulations, maintain hazardous material disposal protocols, and wear required respirators and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Equipment Maintenance:

Clean spray guns, mixing rooms, and paint booths to ensure optimal performance and a contamination-free environment.
