Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Coatings Unlimited is seeking Industrial Foreman/Painters/Sandblaster to join the team! In this role, you will prepare and coat steel surfaces using abrasive blasting, spray painting, and protective coating techniques. You will ensure all work meets surface preparation and coating specifications, maintain a clean and safe work area, and follow all safety and quality standards. This is a field-based role requiring travel to various project sites across the Pacific Northwest and Western United States.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepare steel surfaces for painting using abrasive blasting, power tools, hand tools, or other approved methods. Apply coatings, primers, and paints using spray, brush, or roller techniques according to project specifications. Setup, maintain, and dismantle containment systems for blasting to ensure environmental compliance and worker protection. Safely handle, remove, and dispose of hazardous materials, including lead-based coatings, in accordance with applicable regulations. Inspect surfaces before and after coating applications to ensure quality and adherence to standards. Mask, cover, and protect surrounding areas to prevent overspray or damage. Operate and maintain blasting, spray, and related equipment safely and efficiently. Follow all project specifications, surface preparation standards (SSPC, NACE) and company guidelines. Assist with rigging, material handling, and job site clean-up. Work at heights (up to 200 feet), on scaffolding, and in outdoor environments. Follow all safety protocols and wear required
PPE. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Valid driver's license required. Experience with industrial painting, sandblasting, or coating steel structures; water or elevated tank experience preferred. Knowledge of surface preparation and coating standards (SSPC, NACE) and hazardous material regulations (EPA, OSHA) preferred. Reliable with strong attendance Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Willingness to work overtime as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights up to 200 feet, including confined spaces. Role involves physical labor, including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and working on uneven surfaces. Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly. Required to wear PPE for extended periods (e.g. respirators, protecting clothing, fall protection, eye and hearing protection, etc). Exposure to dust, fumes, paint vapors, abrasive materials, noise, and weather conditions. Frequent travel required (up to 100%) including overnight stays, to job-sites throughout the Pacific Northwest and surrounding area. Coatings Unlimited is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
