The Aerospace Painter is responsible for applying high-quality paint finishes to aircraft components and structures, ensuring compliance with strict aerospace industry standards and specifications. This role demands precision, technical expertise, and a keen eye for detail. The Aerospace Painter will work with a variety of paint systems, materials, and equipment to achieve a flawless and durable finish, contributing to the safety, performance, and aesthetic appeal of aircraft.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities Paint Application:
Apply various paint coatings, including primers, topcoats, and specialty finishes, using spray guns and other application equipment. Mix and prepare paints according to manufacturer specifications and company procedures. Ensure consistent paint thickness and coverage, adhering to specified tolerances. Perform touch-ups and repairs as needed to maintain a high-quality finish. Apply specialized coatings such as corrosion inhibitors and protective sealants.Quality Control and Inspection:
Inspect painted surfaces for defects, such as runs, sags, orange peel, and color variations. Perform visual and instrumental inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards. Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of work performed. Adhere to FAA regulations and company quality control procedures.Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Operate and maintain spray guns, mixing equipment, and other painting tools. Clean and maintain painting equipment to ensure optimal performance. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. Calibrate equipment as needed.Material Handling and Management:
Handle and store paints, solvents, and other materials in accordance with safety and environmental regulations. Maintain inventory of painting supplies and request replenishment as needed. Dispose of hazardous waste materials properly.Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work in a safe and organized manner to prevent accidents and injuries. Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous materials. Participate in safety training and meetings.Technical Documentation and Procedures:
Interpret and follow technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Maintain accurate records of paint applications, materials used, and inspection results. Follow established procedures and best practices for aerospace painting.Teamwork and Communication:
Collaborate with paint preppers, inspectors, and other team members to ensure efficient workflow. Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues. Assist in other areas as needed.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as an aerospace painter or in a similar industrial painting role. Knowledge of aerospace paint systems, materials, and application techniques. Proficiency in operating and maintaining spray guns and other painting equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong attention to detail and a commitment 1 to quality. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures for handling hazardous materials. Ability to wear a respirator for long periods of time. Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift heavy materials.Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in aerospace painting or a related field. Experience with specific aerospace paint systems and materials (e.g., polyurethane, epoxy). Knowledge of FAA regulations and standards. Experience with automated paint systems.Job Type:
