We were founded on the belief to make carbon fiber more affordable and accessible to everyone by developing and applying new technologies to advance carbon fiber applications. Our team of composites experts have over 30 years of combined industry and composite development experience. CF is currently looking for an enthusiastic Paint and Finish Technician to Apprentice with our master composites painter. The ideal candidate is an experienced paint specialist who takes extreme pride in their quality of work. A painter/ finisher at CF must strive for concourse level quality on carbon fiber parts in accordance with company process specifications and time standards. They will be measured by the following metrics: Achieving the highest quality paint and finish with minimal to no rework Maintaining a high level of production efficiency Working as a team player with a positive attitude Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of related auto body paint experience and will be expected to produce outstanding quality results. They must be able to work in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines while maintaining shop quality standards. The ideal candidate has I-Car Pro Level I certification, a strong work ethic, detail oriented and passionate about putting out a good product.
WORK SUMMARY
Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted including masking, sanding, and cleaning. Spray primers, basecoats, and clear coats using HVLP spray equipment. Wet sand (hand block and DA) using high grits from 1200 to 3000. Compound and polish parts to concourse level finish.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs work outlined in work orders with efficiency, accuracy, and high quality and in accordance with company standards Immediately communicates with shop management if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, and/or if job cannot be completed within the promised timeframe Informs and communicates suggestions and errors to relevant departments for continuous improvement of the production process. Documents all work performed and recommended on the work order with proper flag sheets, technician notes, etc. Participates in Paint Company, ICAR, ASE, or other training programs, certifications, schools, and events Maintains shop owned tools and manuals in good working order and assumes accountability for those tools, returning all tools/manuals to their proper place after use Performs daily cleaning of all paint shop areas prior to leaving for the day Operates all tooling and equipment in a safe manner Immediately reports safety issues to management Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS 1
Year of related auto body paint experience Minimum 2 years of experience in a continuous improvement process/procedure-oriented shop environment Proficiency in use of high-end HVLP spray equipment Experience in sanding, compounding and polishing. Extensive mechanical abilities Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills
COMPENSATION
$20-$30/hour depending upon experience PTO and Health benefits available after three months of work
