Job Description

Head Leather Worker & Sheather Hoffman Blacksmithing www.hoffmanblacksmithing.com Full-Time | In-House | Skilled Production Role Hoffman Blacksmithing is hiring a Head Leather Worker & Sheather to lead the day-to-day production of leather sheaths and related leather components used with our hand forged tools and axes. This is a hands-on, production-based craftsman position . This is a small family business with a focus on quality. The ideal candidate is a leather worker or someone with leadership skills who understands efficiency, consistency, and durability, and is comfortable performing repetitive production work to a high standard. This role will include extensive training to perform well with all of our well established processes, patterns and materials. Primary Responsibilities Produce leather sheaths and leather goods for axes and tools in a repeatable production environment Create, refine, and maintain leather patterns suitable for consistent output Translate three-dimensional steel tools into properly fitting leather products Operate both hand tools and production machinery safely and efficiently Maintain organization of materials, patterns, and workflow Plan and manage leather production schedules to meet shop demand Work closely with shop leadership to address fit, function, and durability issues Provide practical, production-minded input on improvements to existing products and processes Maintain consistent quality across all units produced Preferred Skills & Experience Demonstrated working experience and knowledge of all major leather types Ability to design and build functional leather goods for production use Understanding of how flat patterns translate into three-dimensional leather forms Experience using both hand tools and machines such as: Edgers Skivers Leather splitters Grinders Drill press Clicker press Industrial sewing machines Hand-sewing techniques Strong organizational and planning skills Ability to work independently and manage production flow Comfortable with repetitive, production-level work Attention to detail and consistency over long production runs Work Environment & Expectations This is a production role Work is repetitive by nature and requires consistency and efficiency Quality, fit, and durability are prioritized over creative expression Compensation & Schedule Starting pay: $24•25 per hour, depending on experience (Starting rate only — not a cap on long-term pay)
