Alabama Power Job Summary Alabama Power is seeking a Protection & Control (P&C) Technician I to support the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of protection and control systems used in electrical substations. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with 0-3 years of experience who are looking to build a career in substation maintenance, electrical controls, and power systems. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of electrical systems, protection relays, PLCs, and electrical schematics, along with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork. Key Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relays and associated equipment.
- Perform calibration and testing of protection and control devices.
- Install, configure, and maintain protective relays and control systems.
- Assist with field assignments and project activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for protection and control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Support maintenance activities involving PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC systems, sensors, motors, and related equipment.
- Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and best practices.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- 0-3 years of experience as a Controls Technician, Electrical Technician, or related role.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs.
- Experience with AC and DC electrical systems.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Montgomery, AL office. Preferred Skills
