Nammo Defense Systems Inc. (NDS) develops, manufactures, and supports Shoulder Launched Munitions (SLMs), energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aerospace structures.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Controls Technician will be responsible for panel building, PLC programing, robotic programing, servo programing, and troubleshooting exiting systems associated with the manufacturing processes at the Nammo Mesa site. Common types of equipment include custom automation and commercially purchased systems. Experience with wiring, robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and a strong mechanical aptitude is required. The controls technician will work directly with maintenance, mechanical engineers, tool design, I.T., and manufacturing. Projects will vary from small-scale projects to assisting in large-scale team projects. This is a hands-on position which will require constant learning. How you will be rewarded as our

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in designing and building small to mid-sized automation projects. Troubleshoot, program, and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems to resolve operational faults. Support and implementation of automated manufacturing equipment. Equipment troubleshooting, identify component faults, and restore malfunctioning equipment Perform routine calibrations, software backups, and preventive updates on automation networks. Replace faulty I/O modules, sensors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo controllers. Develop easy to use, robust control systems. Generate electrical schematic sketches/drawings. Build and wire panels. Communicate with respective teams both internal and external to Nammo. Travel expected to be less than 10%. Other duties as assigned. Strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

5+ years' experience as a Controls Technician. Demonstrated experience in an industrial environment showing ability to learn and troubleshoot complex systems. .Experience in PLC and HMI programming with multiple hardware platforms including Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, and Siemens Step 7 Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems. Understanding various types of actuators, sensors, and motors. Ability or willingness to seek out and discuss technical issues with outside resources when needed. Aptitude for quickly determining novel solutions for complex problems using available resources. Self-starter with a desire to stay on the cutting edge of automation technology from continuous development both through self-guided learning and available training courses. Ability to work with others to accurately define scope and estimate time required to complete projects. Working knowledge of NFPA79 Industrial Machinery Electrical Safety Standard. Working knowledge of safety system design and deployment including safety hazard assessment, safety rated device selection, and interlocking safety zones. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Prior experience creating as-built AutoCAD electrical schematics Ability to obtain ATF Processor license.

WORKING CONDITIONS
