Job Description
BAS Controls Technician Key Responsibilities Install, wire, and commission HVAC control and building automation systems (DDC). Interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, and project specifications. Install conduit, enclosures, sensors, control devices, and related wiring. Coordinate installation activities with project managers, electricians, and other trades. Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of existing control systems. Maintain assigned inventory, tools, and equipment. Complete daily documentation including time reports, installation progress, and test results. Represent The HVAC Company professionally in customer-facing interactions. Follow all company safety policies and jobsite regulations. Participate in ongoing training, including manufacturer (OEM) programs. Support project schedules including occasional overtime or travel as required. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. Required Qualifications Minimum 1-3 years of experience in low-voltage, HVAC controls, or building automation. Proficiency with hand tools, electrical meters, and a general knowledge of wiring practices. Experience using mobile devices and computers. Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and within a field team environment. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred. Preferred Qualifications Trade school or certifications in HVAC, Controls, or Electrical Systems. Experience installing, commissioning, or troubleshooting DDC systems. Experience coordinating with mechanical contractors and electricians. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Safely operate a company vehicle and follow all PPE requirements. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs frequently. Regular climbing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces. Comfortable working on rooftops (15-50 ft) and in varying weather conditions.
