PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Instrumentation & Controls technician is responsible for maintaining instruments and controls program for the District HVAC's system.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate or GED required Associates degree in HVAC preferred 3 years of experience in HVAC Experience in chill water systems and controls preferred Refrigerant EPA Certification Able to read blueprints and schematics Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable Experience in automated facilities systems, instrumentation and pneumatic controls preferred Knowledge with software: JCI-Metasys;

Knowledge of code, servers, operating systems, databases, and networks would be an added advantage
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installs, repairs, calibrates and troubleshoots school district instrumentation, electrical devices and controls.
  • Working with field instrumentation to measure temperature, humidity, pressure, flow and level.
  • Performs preventive maintenance or corrective maintenance of instrumentation / equipment.
  • Understanding of supervisory interface systems: Metasys, Tracer Summit, Compact, Unity and Automated Logic.
  • Troubleshoots, testing and modification of system / subsystems software programs.
  • Detailed tracking, reports and recommends system deficiencies.
  • Controls programming assessment and modifications to bring systems to optimal performance.
  • Implement efficient energy management practices through the proper use of controls and programming.
  • Orders and maintains critical spare parts list.
  • Respond and support all operational user needs during emergencies, after hours and weekends
  • Preventative maintenance in HVAC equipment as assigned
  • Maintain work orders
  • Read and understand blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics
  • Supports chilled and hot water systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned SKILLS

  • Excellent preventive maintenance techniques in HVAC equipment.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Reading and understanding, blue prints, technical manuals and Schematics.
  • Proficiency using work order software.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software.
  • Independent and self-motivated.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
