Job Description
- Job Title: Instrumentation Commissioning Technician
- Job Description
- The Instrumentation Commissioning Technician plays a pivotal role in supporting the startup and operational readiness of modular biogas to methanol production systems.
This position is integral in validating the instrumentation and controls integration of modular equipment both at the factory and project sites. The technician will be responsible for executing loop checks, instrument calibration, wiring verification, and I/O checkout activities, ensuring each system meets design and performance requirements during commissioning.
- Responsibilities
- + Execute field wiring verification and continuity checks against as-built drawings and instrument schedules.
+ Perform instrument loop checks across various signal types: thermocouples, RTDs, pressure transmitters, flow meters, level switches, and discrete I/O.
+ Configure and verify field instruments including zero/span calibration, engineering unit assignment, and damping settings.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing errors including mislabeled conductors, incorrect instrument types, and out-of-range configurations.
+ Conduct control valve stroke tests and verify positioner setup and calibration.
+ Verify PLC I/O mapping against the field instrument utility tie-ins and instrument installation or site integrations in the field.
- Essential Skills
- + 3+ years of hands-on instrumentation experience in an industrial, process, or manufacturing environment.
+ Proficiency calibrating and verifying pressure, temperature, and flow instruments.
+ Ability to read and work from P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, and wiring diagrams.
+ Experience with 4-20mA, thermocouple, and discrete signal types.
+ Familiarity with PLC I/O verification using an HMI or SCADA platform.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
+ Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in outdoor or industrial environments.
+ Valid driver's license; willing and able to travel as needed.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Experience with natural gas processing, biogas, chemical processing, or internal combustion engine systems.
+ OSHA 10 and NEC 70E training.
+ Familiarity with Ignition
SCADA / HMI
platform. + Familiarity with
J1939 CAN
communications.
+ Allen-Bradley / Rockwell I/O and tag structure familiarity.
+ HART communicator or equivalent calibration tool experience.
+ Experience with modular or skid-mounted process equipment.

- Work Environment
- The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with flexibility required during active commissioning deployments. The work location is based in Rockledge, FL, with significant travel to project sites nationwide. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $25.
00 - $39.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
