LaGrange, Georgia Build Custom Industrial Automation Systems Durand-Wayland Machinery has been engineering and manufacturing automated fruit and vegetable packing equipment for over 90 years. Our equipment is installed throughout North America and incorporates PLC controls, HMIs, servo systems, robotics, machine vision, VFDs, industrial networking, and advanced automation technology. We are seeking an experienced Industrial Controls Technician to join our Electrical and Controls team. This position is responsible for building, wiring, testing, and supporting custom industrial control systems used in automated machinery. Responsibilities Build and wire industrial control panels from electrical schematics Install electrical components including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, motor starters, safety relays, power supplies, network switches, and control devices Wire complete industrial machines and production equipment Route, terminate, label, and test electrical wiring Verify panel layouts and ensure compliance with engineering drawings Perform point-to-point electrical testing and quality inspections Assist with machine checkout and functional testing prior to shipment Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during manufacturing Support installation and startup activities at customer facilities as needed Work closely with electrical engineering, mechanical assembly, and service personnel Maintain accurate documentation of changes during assembly Follow company safety procedures and electrical standards Qualifications 3+ years of experience building industrial control panels or wiring industrial equipment Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics Strong understanding of industrial electrical components and control circuits Experience with motor controls and industrial power distribution Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems using multimeters and diagnostic tools Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment Preferred Experience Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: Schneider Electric control products PLC hardware Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Servo motion systems Industrial Ethernet networks UL508A control panels NEC industrial wiring practices Industrial sensors and safety devices Machine automation Food processing or packaging equipment Machine startup or field service Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and work around industrial machinery Occasional travel to customer sites for installation, startup, or service support What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid vacation and holidays Stable, growing company with over 90 years of industry leadership Opportunity to work on custom automation projects rather than repetitive production Exposure to robotics, machine vision, PLC programming, servo systems, and advanced industrial automation Career advancement opportunities into Electrical Design, Controls Engineering, Field Service, or Project Management At Durand-Wayland, every machine is custom built to meet our customers' needs.
