Job Description
Controls Technician Full-Time Terre Haute, IN Compensation (DOE): up to $90K Controls Technician to join a high-performing manufacturing team in Terre Haute, Indiana. This is a hands-on, technically engaging role where you will play a critical part in commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimizing state-of-the-art industrial control systems that drive production success. In this role, you'll work side-by-side with Controls Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and cross-functional technical teams, supporting innovative automation projects from installation through startup and continuous improvement. Controls Technician:
As a Controls Technician, you will be a trusted technical resource responsible for ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient operation of manufacturing control systems. Key Responsibilities as aControls Technician:
Collaborate with Controls Engineers on new equipment installations and automation projects Review electrical schematics and support control system installation and startup Install, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot electrical instrumentation and electronic controls Perform I/O checkout, system validation, and commissioning activities Diagnose and resolve wiring, hardware, software, and network-related control issues Maintain and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs, I/O systems, and drive platforms (including Siemens S120 and G120C drives) Install and support PLC communication software and automation networks Develop and maintain documentation for testing, startup, and commissioning processes Partner with engineering, assembly, and operations teams to improve system performance Direct and coordinate activities of outside contractors when required Accurately document project hours and technical work Provide occasional after-hours technical support based on business needs Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, and 5S Maintain a safe working environment by following all company safety regulationsControls Technician Education & Experience:
Associate's Degree (AA/AS) in Electrical, Mechanical, or related technical field OR a minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience and/or training OR an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and control systems Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to design and conduct testing procedures for complex manufacturing equipment Solid computer and documentation skillsWork Schedule & Environment:
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, day shift Occasional after-hours support as required You work primarily in a manufacturing plant environment, which may include: Exposure to moving mechanical parts, industrial chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles Moderate noise levels Physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
