Job Summary:
The primary role of the Controls Technician is to troubleshoot, repair, replace and commission all electrical control devices including but not limited to AC drives, DC drives, servo controllers, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids, power supplies, PLC's, HMI's, VFD's, Servos, ethernet switches (Managed and/or Unmanaged) and indicator lights.Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science 2. 3-5 years of experience programming PLC's/HMI's. Experience with two or more listed: PLC's ,Allen Bradley:
6200/RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000, Connected Components Workshop.Siemens:
TIA Portal.Mitsubishi Electric:
GX Developer, etc. Experience with two or more listed: HMI's , Allen Bradley (PB32, RSView Machine Edition), Automation Direct, Siemens (WinCC), Xycom (Proface). Etc.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical computer skills including specific controls programming software, Outlook e-mail, and Microsoft Suite applications. Advanced knowledge of electrical theory and principles of operation Advanced knowledge of controller-based hardware and software Standard knowledge of product specifications, quality requirements, production goals, efficiency, and waste Strong analytical skills, understanding of cause-and-effect logic. Ability to make quick and accurate electrical repairs. Strong understanding of analytical instrumentation, process controls, and computer systems, including hardware and software Problem solving experience/capability. Demonstrated safe, effective use of hand, maintenance, power, and shop tools. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude. Must have good communication skills and be able to work well in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of Rockwell and Siemens PLC is highly recommended, along with a background in machine process control (Marcal uses Rockwell servo control systems along with advanced networking communications, including Ethernet and SERCOS protocols).Network protocols:
DH+, DH485, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet IP, Profibus DP and/or Profinet preferred. Knowledge of basic web handling with industrial experience is desired with focus on paper products converting, packaging being a plus. Visual acuity Ability to climb, stoop, reach, bend on continuous basis; 50-pound minimum lifting. Self-motivated and able to work independently utilizing mechanical, and analytical aptitude. Willing to work an on-call schedule, including nights, weekends. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Ensure compliance with OSHA and Company safety rules and regulations; communicate as appropriate. 2. Under general supervision perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on a wide variety of equipment to include: troubleshoot, repair, replace and commission all electrical control devices including but not limited to AC drives, DC drives, servo controllers, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids, power supplies, PLC's, touchscreens, and indicator lights. 3. Download and save/make changes to parameters and software as needed. 4. Work closely with various plant personnel to resolve and improve any process flow areas deemed restrictive to production. 5. Perform routine maintenance (preventative maintenance) on electrical, instrumentation and controls equipment throughout the plant ensuring safe practices and equipment operation. Report/refer defects or repairs as appropriate. 6. Perform emergency maintenance on failed equipment to get it back up and running as quickly as possible. 7. Assist with shutdown and start-up of equipment on shutdown projects. 8. Identify and relay safety, quality, waste reduction, and downtime reduction improvement opportunities to plant supervision/management. 9. Read and interpret electrical, instrumentation schematics, P&ID's rough sketches and blueprints. 10. Create and maintain process for data collection on equipment uptime, downtime, and efficiencies. 11. Adhere to Company policy and procedure. 12. Other duties, as assigned.Physical Requirements:
