Job Description
Project Leader - Building Automation / ControlsJob Summary Under general direction, the Project Leader acts as the on-site project leader responsible for planning, executing, and completing control systems projects for assigned customers. This role oversees project activities from initiation through closeout, including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project completion. The Project Leader is responsible for the overall financial performance of assigned projects, including project costs, billings, and collections. The role requires maintaining an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results while actively identifying and pursuing change order opportunities. The Project Leader will coordinate communication with customers throughout all phases of the project and ensure proper execution of warranty requirements. Key Responsibilities Plan, execute, and complete assigned building automation and control systems projects. Perform or delegate project tasks as required to ensure successful project completion. Coordinate hardware design, system programming, installation, commissioning, and project closeout activities. Provide work direction and coordination to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administrative personnel as needed. Manage project costs, billings, collections, and overall financial performance. Identify and pursue opportunities for project change orders. Maintain effective communication with customers throughout all phases of the project. Balance customer satisfaction with project scope, schedule, quality, and financial objectives. Ensure proper execution and completion of warranty requirements. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable state, local, and federal legal requirements. Promote and maintain the highest standards of ethics and professionalism on project sites. Ensure employees and subcontractors adhere to all applicable safety requirements and procedures. Work independently while effectively managing multiple project responsibilities. Required Qualifications Associate degree in a technical field with at least 2 years of relevant field experience, or 4 years of equivalent related field experience in the building automation industry. Experience programming panel controls, preferably for HVAC equipment. Previous experience managing projects. Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to non-technical audiences. Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions. Strong computer and technical skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel using a personal vehicle. MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) must be included as part of the background investigation. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the HVAC industry and programming building automation controls. 2+ years of project management experience. Knowledge of project accounting and costing principles. Hands-on technical experience with the design and commissioning of digital HVAC control systems. Experience with building automation systems, control systems, and HVAC equipment. Travel Requirements Travel may be required to customer and project sites using a personal vehicle. Local and regional travel may be required based on project needs. #
