Job Description

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Automation Controls Technician to support engineering development for Cell Manufacturing, including equipment development, installation, and commissioning. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to address challenging automation equipment issues and installations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in industrial automation machinery, especially with PLC or DCS control systems using a fieldbus technology; knowledge of Profinet or EtherCAT is preferred. The candidate should be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Tesla's projects are highly dynamic, as the company continuously adjusts priorities to improve productivity and efficiency. code compliant control panels and perform retrofits to existing panels, by following engineering prints and using supplier information Collaborate and provide feedback with relevant teams to determine appropriate equipment, instrument locations, and compliant cabling methods Verify automation equipment is safely installed and energized, and that it meets the project specifications and standards Troubleshoot complex electrical and control issues, using knowledge of control systems and proficiently reading electrical schematics, troubleshoot and commission VFD and servo drive systems Edit electrical schematics using

Electrical CAD Perform basic mechanical assembly tasks, such as bolting brackets and covers, and using basic hand tools 5+ years of experience working in an industrial automation or technical organization Familiarity with 480V power distribution panels, digital/analog I/O, and safety circuit systems Experience with wiring methods, terminations, and networking within industrial/manufacturing environments Experience with NEC compliance for industrial machinery, including raceway methods Command of the English language, both written and verbal Ability to document, multitask, prioritize, and work in an extremely fast-paced environment Essential Physical Demands Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: PAPR, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
