Instrumentation and Controls Field Technician Canonsburg, PA 2 DAYS AGO 22527332 Summary Canonsburg, PA Travel Job within 100 miles operating radius $31.25 - $33.65 per Year 2 Years Experience Vocational/Technical Certificate No Commission 40.00 hours per week / Day Shift / Full-Time Description Instrumentation and Controls Field Technician Direct hire Description Automation Commissioning Field Technician will support both shop-based assembly/testing and field-based commissioning/startup of electrical control systems and equipment. This role involves hands-on technical work, adherence to strict safety and quality standards, and collaboration with engineering and field teams. Key Responsibilities Assemble and stage jobs per Bills of Material (BOM) and direction from shop leadership Review engineering drawings and identify any errors or omissions before beginning assembly Report documentation or design issues immediately to the shop lead Assist team members with the safe handling and movement of large projects Build and maintain electrical control panels in compliance with UL508A standards Support testing, quality checks, and preparation of completed jobs for shipment Develop and maintain knowledge in commissioning and startup of VFDs, field instrumentation, basic PLC platforms, and basic networking equipment Diagnose equipment and system issues independently or with remote assistance from a Process Engineer Support site commissioning and startup activities, including diagnostics and startup of panel wiring, instrument wiring, and network diagnostics Establish remote connections with Programming Engineers to assist with advanced troubleshooting Qualifications Associate degree or technical certificate preferred 2 - 4 years of experience with industrial instrumentation and controls Understanding of electrical control panels and electrical design General PLC knowledge Valid driver's license required Any candidate being considered will be subject to a background check and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening Additional Details
