Job Description

Controls Technician 2nd Shift
  • Chattanooga, TN / Plant 1 Role Summary Controls Technician
  • Press will provide support, leadership and direction to the Maintenance Technicians and perform Controls function for the Press Maintenance Department. The Controls Technician
  • Press will support and carry out the assignments and responsibilities given them by the Controls & Robotics Engineering Manager or his/her designees, and you shall devote your full time, skill and attention to the business of the Company.
Key Responsibilities Work with minimal supervision and work well in a team. Support Manufacturing Engineering in the development of standards and specifications, including a complete purchase parts list related to controls systems. Plan and implement improvements within Press Shop related to the specific controls systems. Provide technical support to Press Shop for resolving controls related issues. Support the Press Shop Technical Training and Development program by conducting training classes, providing technical documentation, etc. Identify training needs for Maintenance Technicians. Provide requirements to Maintenance supervisors and training department. Provide leadership and direction during equipment downtime situations. Controls Team leaders must be able to make good judgment decisions on technical matters and interface effectively with production supervision. Make necessary adjustments to parts and machinery to ensure proper production run. Robotics troubleshooting on robots. Electrical circuit troubleshooting. Pneumatic troubleshooting. Hydraulic troubleshooting. Supervise the assembly and installation as well as assemble and install new equipment and can make modifications to existing equipment as requested. Responsible for training new Maintenance Technicians in equipment and safety as assigned. Set up preventative maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment for the Press Shop. as laid out by the manufacturer's specifications. Maintain maintenance Quality standards and preventative/ predictive maintenance program for the Press Shop to insure compliance with QS9000 Requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Education BS:
Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or other technical discipline plus 3 years of automated manufacturing technical experience required.
AS:
Electronics Technology plus 5 years of automated manufacturing technical experience required. 7+ years experience and training in a similar role and environment. Key Qualifications/Requirements High skill set with PC and communication skills. Strong proficiency with PLC (Siemens, Allen Bradley), Pilz Safety PLC's, A-B Servo Drive systems. Robotic Systems a plus (Fanuc or ABB). Minimum 5 years of experience in robotic-PLC debugging/programming position. Additional Information Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, and hear. Employees must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
