• Job Description The Valve Technician is responsible for inspecting, disassembling, repairing, machining, assembling, and testing industrial valves used in various industries such as oil & gas, power generation, chemical processing, and water treatment.

This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, precision machining skills, and the ability to adhere to strict quality and safety standards in a dynamic shop environment. Responsibilities Disassemble and inspect a wide range of valves, including gate, globe, check, ball, plug, control, and safety relief valves. Diagnose wear, corrosion, mechanical failure, and dimensional issues using precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators. Operate machine shop equipment such as lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, and honing tools to repair or fabricate valve components. Lap, polish, and recondition sealing surfaces to meet manufacturer or customer specifications. Assemble valves according to OEM standards, engineering drawings, and shop procedures. Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing using calibrated test benches and follow all safety protocols. Document all work performed, including measurements, parts replaced, test results, and final inspection data. Interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and OEM specifications to ensure accurate repairs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following shop safety rules and PPE requirements. Collaborate with supervisors, machinists, and quality inspectors to ensure timely and accurate job completion. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with industrial equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and repair manuals. Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges. Experience operating manual machine tools such as lathes, mills, and drill presses. Knowledge of valve types, components, and repair procedures. Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and work in a physically demanding shop environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Basic computer skills for documenting work orders and test results. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a valve repair shop or industrial machine shop. Familiarity with API and ANSI valve standards. Experience with safety relief valve testing and certification. Welding or machining certifications. Forklift or overhead crane operation experience. Why Work Here? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
