Job Description:

The Lead Scenic Painter oversees and executes project finishes as assigned to support Pink Sparrow's Scenic Department. This role covers planning, execution, quality control, and ongoing process refinements for the Scenic Department. This role reports to the Scenic Charge. Department Responsibilities Effectively problem solve, ensuring that safe practices, efficiency, and budget are adhered to Stay flexible when the project scope shifts quickly, and be prepared to lead a team through it Ensure proper safety practices are followed, personal protective equipment is worn at all times, and that a safe and efficient work space is maintained Lead overtime, weekend shifts, and installs as needed for the project Work to maintain efficiency and professionalism on the deck to execute projects accurately, while maintaining a positive and flexible attitude Project Planning Sampling for respective projects with proper documentation of paints and procedures Building a purchasing list with the Charge regarding job-specific materials ahead of the project Meet with PM and Scenic Charge to leaf through technical drawings and renderings to ensure job expectations, sampling, and treatments for all elements of the build are understood Make a colored drawing key or diagram of the relative project, and ensure that all scenic employees assigned to the project are informed Build Execution Communicate and collaborate with department leads on project progress and meetings as needed Leading a treatment instruction session for respective processes Work with the Senior Lead on your end-of-day/week goals, and communicate said goals effectively to the scenic team Onsite Execution Meet with the PM, Senior Lead, and/or Charge to discuss the onsite approach and order of operations Prepare onsite paint kits for thorough and effective completion of touch-ups or potential damage Create an independent notes list onsite for the project, and be prepared to lead others in the completion of the list

Qualifications:

Required:

Extensive knowledge of scenic art practices such as:•faux finishes, flat/back rolling, muraling/fine art capability, HVLP, color theory, prepping wall flats with various techniques (Bondo, seaming), clear coats, 3D sculptural forms, hardcoating, and airless spraying Experience working with basic carpentry tools Willingness to travel on projects for out-of-town installs Ability to use ladders and carry at least 50 pounds

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK OVERTIME IF NECESSARY

Education & Experience:

4+ years of experience in scenic art•additional 1+ years of experience in a scenic leadership role

Pay:

$35.00•$37.00 per hour
