The Lot Next Door Description:
the Project The Lot Next Door is an outdoor public art project and theater production led by Dorchester Weather Theatre Ensemble. The project includes an ensemble-devised play (The Lot Next Door) inspired bymunity stories, neighborhood history and explores questions around development, displacement, and environmental justice. The full production will premiere August 28-30, 2026. We are looking for an Assistant Director who is excited to step into an active, evolving process and work collaboratively with the Director to help guide the work into apelling, cohesive production. This project emerges from a neighborhood-based process in amunity impacted by gentrification, environmental injustice, and ongoing struggles over land, development, and belonging. We are seeking someone who can hold these realities and also contribute bold artistic choices.
Qualifications:
We are looking for someone with: Experience with new plays, devised work, or works in development Strong dramaturgical instincts and the ability to help shape emerging material A collaborative approach to playmaking, andfort with ensemble-based processes Knowledge of issues related to gentrification, neighborhood development, and environmental justice Familiarity with Dorchester and Boston
