Job Description

The Walnut Hill School for the Arts Production Department is hiring temporary technical theater professionals for ongoing projects. The School has openings for scenic carpenters, scenic painters, costume assistants, audio technicians, and lighting technicians. All positions are part-time, paid hourly and scheduled as needed around the School's production calendar. Background checks including fingerprinting and
CORI/SORI
are required.
Compensation:
$25 per hour paid through payroll (W-2).
Position Requirements:
Scenic Carpenters :
Advanced carpentry skills needed with an attention for detail and problem solving. Experience working with standard and unique scenic materials as well as basic scenic construction techniques. Woodworking skills are essential and steel construction knowledge or experience is a plus.
Scenic Painters :
Advanced scenic painting skills, with an attention to detail. Experience working with standard and unique scenic materials as well as various paints and coatings. Knowledge of texturing techniques and materials. Understanding of paint preparation and clean-up, especially in painting stage floors.
Lighting Technicians :
General theatrical lighting knowledge and experience hanging, cabling, and focusing lights. Individuals should also have experience running DMX, cabling LED fixtures, installing moving light fixtures, and working with an ION console.
Audio Technicians :
General knowledge of audio systems and running sound for productions. Experience with Qlab is essential, particularly in setting up playback cues for backing tracks of junior musicals. Knowledge of running wireless microphones from a Midas M32 console.
Costume Assistants :
Competency in all aspects of costume operations in theater, dance, and opera. Knowledge of costume construction techniques, wardrobe maintenance, sewing machines, and other costume shop equipment. Work closely with the Costume Shop Manager to create and update all costume paperwork (tracks, piece lists, costume plots, etc.). Walnut Hill School for the Arts is an independent boarding and day high school offering a transformational educational experience designed for student artists in grades 9-post graduate.
