Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is the professional installation of artwork in commercial environments, including healthcare, hospitality, senior living, corporate, and multifamily spaces. The Commercial Art Installer is responsible for the safe handling, transportation, layout, and installation of artwork while ensuring projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and to company quality standards. As needed, this position also supports the picture framing department with artwork preparation, frame assembly, receiving, and other production-related tasks. This shop-based work helps maintain project schedules and ensures finished pieces are prepared for delivery and installation. Art Installation (On-Site)
Responsibilities:
Coordinate with clients, interior designers, and project managers to understand installation requirements and specifications Safely transport and handle artwork to ensure its integrity during transportation and installation Use appropriate tools and techniques to securely and aesthetically hang art according to design plans and artistic vision Ensure precise measurement, spacing, and alignment of artwork, considering architectural features and lighting conditions Problem-solve and make on the spot adjustments to meet visual and client expectations Maintain a professional demeanor and positively represent the company during client interactions and installation projects Picture Framing (In-Shop)
Responsibilities:
Measure, cut and join picture frame moulding using saws and specialized equipment Cut mat boards, foam core, and glazing materials to custom sizes with precision Assemble artwork using proper archival and structural techniques Inspect finished products for quality before packing and installation Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition Assist with inventory of moulding, materials, and hardware
Skills and Qualifications:
Proficient with hand and power tools commonly used in installation and framing work Ability to take accurate measurements (to 1/16 inch) and perform mental math quickly Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality craftsmanship and presentation Ability to read, interpret, and follow design plans, layouts, or work orders Effective organizational and time management skills across multiple tasks and environments Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Prior experience in art installation, picture framing, or a related trade is beneficial
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand (often for long periods), walk, bend, climb and lift throughout the workday Ability to safely lift, move, and position artwork and materials, including items weighing up to 100 lbs as well as large or awkwardly sized pieces that require significant reach, wingspan, and spatial awareness, with or without assistance. Comfortable at heights up to 25ft on ladders and scaffolding
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required for job site travel) Ability to operate large vans and small box trucks. Willingness to travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, with occasional overnight stays (approximately 10 nights per year)
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
Pay:
$18.00 - $23.00 per hour
