Job Description

About the Role This is an entry-level position for someone who wants to learn custom woodworking from the ground up. You'll start with shop support, material prep, and production assistance. As you develop skills and prove yourself, you'll take on more technical work and learn the craft of building custom doors and millwork. Scobis Millwork + Design builds custom wood doors and architectural millwork for residential and commercial clients. We work with Sapele, White Oak, Accoya, Mahogany, Walnut, and exotics. Every project is different. Every piece is handcrafted. If you want to build a career in woodworking and you're willing to start at the bottom and work your way up, this role is for you. We build 100% custom projects with premium materials. You won't see this level of craftsmanship at a production cabinet shop or construction site. This role starts with sweeping, cleaning, and moving materials. That's not glamorous, but it's how you learn the shop, the materials, and the standards. Craftsmen who do excellent work don't want their time wasted prepping materials or emptying dust collectors. That's where you come in. If you take initiative, ask questions, and show you're serious about learning, you'll get opportunities to do more technical work. If you just show up and expect promotions for attendance, this won't work. You'll be part of the team. You'll eat lunch with craftsmen, hear how they solve problems, and see projects go from raw lumber to finished installations in high-end homes and commercial spaces. We use technology (CNC, laser engraver, modern machinery) to support craftsmanship. If you're interested in how traditional skills and modern tools work together, you'll like it here.
