Job Description
Overview Hello! I am Colin Bradley and I started a nature school program for 6 - 12 year olds called ImagiNature school here in Johnson, Vermont. The school is in the tradition of Jon Young Nature Awareness 8 shields model schools, that have gratitude circle, sit spots, camoflage tag games, fire making, earth skills, and campfire songs. This school also has a flavor of imaginative theatrical play, wild play, some sport like games, and child leadership. I'm looking for a Nature Mentor to join me for Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the school year; and possibly Thursdays, and possible afterschool programs. This program is designed for kids to come 1 day a week. September 2026 - June 2027 with a long winter break of half of December, January and February, starting back up in the beginning of March. I'm looking for someone that loves to engage dynamically with wild, growing, children, wants to bring activities to lead, is resilient and positive in the face of inclement weather, and is willing to learn songs, games, and other parts of the school day to lead. Responsibilities Leading activities such as Art, theatre, crafts, games, projects Being fun and silly so that kids like you but also certain and strong so that kids trust your leadership and boundaries Taking care of your own physical needs in terms of food and inclement weather, and then taking care of children who are hot or coldddd or wet or emotional. Showing up on time so we can have a small meeting in the morning to set our intention and have the best day ever Be willing to learn and try new things Clean and Organize the school so that we are able to offer more materially to the kids Keeping the kids safe, and happy, and on their learning edge. Experience Willing to train the right candidate Nature Mentoring experience a plus Working with kids of all ages a plus Experience actually working outside all day in rainy, cold, snowy climates ImagiNature Programs are hoping to grow to bring more nature-based education to the kids in lamoille county and beyond.
