Electronics Assembler Job Description This entry-level Electronics Assembler role focuses on building and testing fiber-optic and electronic communication products used in industrial and utility environments. You will perform hands-on assembly, follow detailed instructions and schematics, and support the production flow by ensuring each unit meets quality and safety standards. Responsibilities Assemble fiber-optic and electronic communication products according to work instructions, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Identify and correctly place electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, and integrated circuits on printed circuit boards. Perform printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, including through-hole and basic surface-mount technology (SMT) work. Solder and desolder components on PCBs while maintaining clean, reliable, and consistent solder joints. Strip, crimp, and assemble wires and cables to create harnesses and connections that meet design specifications. Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, and torque drivers safely and accurately during assembly. Operate basic electrical test equipment, including multimeters, to verify continuity, voltage, and proper operation of assemblies. Follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety procedures to protect sensitive electronic components during handling and assembly. Inspect assembled boards and components for correct placement, solder quality, and overall workmanship, and correct any defects found. Perform basic troubleshooting of electronic assemblies to identify and resolve simple issues or escalate more complex problems. Document work performed and communicate any assembly or quality issues to the appropriate team members. Support overall production flow by organizing workstations, maintaining tools and equipment, and assisting teammates as needed. Essential Skills Ability to identify electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, and integrated circuits. Hands-on experience or training in printed circuit board (PCB) assembly. Proficiency in soldering and desoldering through-hole components and basic surface-mount (SMT) components. Skill in wire stripping, crimping, and cable assembly. Ability to read and interpret basic schematics and wiring diagrams. Competent use of hand tools including screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, and torque drivers. Basic proficiency with multimeters and other fundamental electrical test equipment. Understanding and application of electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety procedures. Ability to inspect assembled boards and components for quality and correctness. Basic troubleshooting skills for electronic assemblies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Formal or informal technical training in electronics, electrical technology, or a related field. Experience in electronic assembly, wiring, or electrical assembly in a production or lab environment. Familiarity with fiber-optic or communication products used in industrial or utility settings. Work Environment This role is based in a production environment focused on fiber-optic and electronic communication products. You will work at an electronics assembly workstation using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, and torque drivers, as well as basic test equipment including multimeters and other electrical testers. The work involves handling printed circuit boards and sensitive components under electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls, which may include ESD-safe workstations, grounding straps, and other protective measures. You can expect a hands-on setting where you spend most of your time assembling, soldering, wiring, and inspecting products to support steady production flow. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orange, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
