is seeking a Mechanical Technician 2 to support the Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Business Unit within the Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division. MEP is a leading designer, producer, and supplier of spacecraft components that enable satellites of all classes. Products include spacecraft panels, bus structures, precision optical structures, deployable structural systems and mechanisms, solar arrays, and antenna reflectors. This position is on-site at our Oxnard, CA facility.. Key Responsibilities Perform fabrication and assembly of mechanical components and subassemblies for larger systems Set up and test prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions Analyze test data and recommend modifications to components or processes to meet specifications Support all manufacturing operations, including setup, calibration, rework, and quality testing Work closely with engineers during manufacturing and production processes Use specialized software and tools to collect and evaluate operational data Assist in developing and improving manufacturing processes and procedures Handle and manage fragile composite materials Track adhesive usage, including traceability, pot life, and out-time documentation Perform bonding and preparation of composite structures to metallic fittings Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures Interpret and work from manufacturing and engineering drawings and shop plans Interface with cross-functional teams and report production data Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safety standards Basic Qualifications Must be a U.S. Citizen High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of additional education and/or relevant experience Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English Demonstrated mechanical aptitude Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and schematics Familiarity with hand tools and proper safety techniques Understanding of torque concepts Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 pounds Ability to stand for extended periods Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and shifts as required Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to quality and excellence Preferred Qualifications Experience in a composites or aerospace manufacturing environment, including space or satellite structures Proficiency in basic shop math and measurement Experience working to blueprints or shop drawings Familiarity with ISO standards, compliance, and quality systems Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced production environment Experience using cranes, rigging equipment, and forklifts Proficient with electronic test equipment (DC power supplies, digital multimeters, source meters) Benefits offered to vary by the contract.
