The Lead will oversee a team responsible for prototype testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and board-level rework. This is a hands-on technical leadership position that includes performing advanced failure analysis and precision rework, assigning priorities, reviewing completed work, training technicians, and coordinating directly with engineering teams. Responsibilities Provide daily technical leadership to prototype assembly, testing, debug, and rework personnel. Assign work and adjust priorities based on engineering needs, prototype schedules, and changing project requirements. Lead root-cause failure analysis for returned prototypes, build anomalies, quality variations, and complex device failures. Develop troubleshooting plans and determine whether failures originate in electrical hardware, mechanical assemblies, firmware, software, or testing equipment. Perform precision hand soldering and rework on components down to 0201 size. Troubleshoot, repair, and modify PCBAs, flexible printed circuits, connectors, sensors, and other compact electronic hardware. Perform board-level measurements and signal analysis using electronic testing equipment. Use microscopes and camera-based inspection systems to inspect solder joints, components, and assemblies. Complete complex component and module replacements while protecting sensitive prototype hardware. Run, review, edit, and troubleshoot Python or other validation scripts through an IDE. Coordinate directly with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and design engineers. Review troubleshooting results, repairs, and documentation for accuracy and completeness. Write and maintain assembly instructions, operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and testing documentation. Train and mentor team members on soldering, failure analysis, testing procedures, and documentation standards. Lead technical discussions, work handoffs, and status updates. Identify recurring failures and recommend improvements to device design, tooling, testing, and production processes. Escalate technical risks, capacity constraints, equipment needs, and unresolved issues to engineering and program leadership. Provide technician performance feedback and escalate formal personnel matters to TalentWise management. Required Qualifications At least six years of experience in advanced electronics troubleshooting, PCBA rework, failure analysis, prototype hardware testing, or a closely related field. Experience providing technical leadership, training, or work direction to other technicians. Demonstrated experience performing board-level troubleshooting and complex electronic repairs. Proven hand-soldering and rework capability down to 0201 components. Experience troubleshooting PCBAs, flexible printed circuits, connectors, and compact electronic devices. Proficiency using microscopes, camera-based inspection equipment, precision soldering stations, and electronic testing equipment. Ability to independently isolate electrical, mechanical, firmware, and testing-system failures. Experience editing and troubleshooting Python or similar testing scripts.
