Position Description:
As the Electrical Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for building electrical control panels and wiring equipment according to electrical prints, program/configuration loading, static yellow-line checkout and power on testing of that equipment prior to shipment. The Electrical Assembly Technician may also assist with troubleshooting electrical faults or alarm codes with Field Service Technicians and/or customers. Occasional travel to customers' locations is required.
Essential Job Functions:
Build electrical control panels and wire equipment according to electrical prints. Support base operations to ensure customer shipments are completed on schedule. Support continuous improvement efforts by updating prints and documentation as needed. Troubleshoot PLC and HMI program communication to ensure all circuits and terminal connections are properly wired. Lead final quality inspection checklists and troubleshooting of safety circuits. Support Field Service Technicians and customers with questions on wiring schematics, troubleshooting faults and system alarms. Develop and follow documented standard work procedures associated with panel builds and check-out. Review and maintain inventory of electrical components. Participate in the annual physical inventory. Ensure compliance with all electrical standards (UL, NEC, etc.) Comply with OSHA electrical safety standards and company safety policies. Receive training in various packages used on Tomahawk equipment, with an expectation of eventually using these systems independently to program components for equipment builds and customer spares. Prior experience is a plus. Prepare all electrical packages and customer components and spares for shipment. Receive training in Tomahawk's ERP system and eventually achieve proficiency in daily business functions, including receiving and creating and processing production orders. Maintain clean, organized, and safe shop area workstations, equipment, and dock area. Perform other duties and/or special projects assigned.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience wiring equipment and troubleshooting safety circuits Previous experience building electrical panels Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Ability to use electrical testing equipment, including multimeter and AC/DC probes, to perform electrical testing and assess problems Working knowledge of AC and DC control circuits Working knowledge of ethernet networks; experience with other industrial networks is a plus Proficiency with general PC functions and Windows operating systems, including Microsoft Office Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to lift/ carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations with or without the use of a calculator Basic knowledge of PLC controllers Ability to follow instructions, read, write, and communicate with customers and fellow team members Expected hours: 40.0 per week
