Job Description

Job Title:
Control Panel Builder Job Description The Control Panel Builder assembles high-quality UL508A control panels, server cabinets, and test stands by interpreting drawings and schematics, performing precise electrical and mechanical assembly, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with project teams and panel shop staff to build, wire, and document electrical equipment in a clean, organized, and climate-controlled shop environment during a 1st shift schedule (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM). Responsibilities Use electrical drawings and schematics to build control panels and related electrical equipment. Wire and build industrial control panels based on detailed schematics and layout drawings. Assemble mechanical units and mount electrical components in control panels, server cabinets, and test stands. Perform electrical cabinet construction, including mounting, routing, and wiring components. Use hand tools, wire cutters, strippers, soldering tools, and other equipment safely and effectively. Record changes on engineering documentation to reflect modifications made during assembly. Adhere to all company and regulatory safety policies and procedures at all times. Collaborate and communicate effectively with project teams, panel shop staff, and co-workers. Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle materials and equipment carefully. Stand for extended periods and safely lift up to fifty pounds as part of daily work activities. Essential Skills 2-year technical degree or at least 2 years of experience in panel building or electronics. Proven ability to wire and build industrial control panels based on schematics. Experience using electrical drawings to build electrical equipment and control panels. Hands-on experience with electrical assembly and panel building. Proficiency using hand tools, wire cutters, strippers, and similar equipment. Ability to perform soldering work as part of electrical assembly. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Effective verbal communication skills to work with co-workers and project teams. Ability to stand and work on your feet for long periods of time. Ability to safely lift up to fifty pounds as needed. Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience building UL508A control panels is highly beneficial. Experience with electrical panel construction for server cabinets and test stands. Familiarity with documenting and recording changes on engineering drawings. Demonstrated ability to follow safety policies and regulatory requirements consistently. Strong organizational skills to maintain an orderly work area in a production environment. Reliability and punctuality to support a consistent 1st shift schedule (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM). Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a smaller, climate-controlled shop that is organized and clean throughout the facility, providing a comfortable and efficient setting for detailed electrical and mechanical assembly. The role follows a 1st shift schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Daily work involves hands-on use of tools such as hand tools, wire cutters, strippers, and soldering equipment while assembling and wiring control panels, server cabinets, and test stands. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and collaboration among a skilled team of panel shop professionals. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
