- Job Description The Assembler plays a key role in a multi-step process to receive, test, clean, repair, and prepare electronic modems for shipment.
This position involves working on your feet throughout the shift, handling parts with care, and following standardized procedures to ensure products meet quality standards. You will be cross-trained across multiple stations in a 12-step workflow and work closely with team members in a modern, well-equipped facility. Responsibilities Receive incoming modems and accurately document all items and quantities. Perform factory reset procedures by manually activating reset functions on devices. Operate automatic test stations by plugging in and testing up to 32 units at a time, monitoring test cycles that may range from 60 to 90 minutes. Conduct Wi‑Fi tests to verify connectivity and performance according to defined standards. Perform elevated temperature tests to ensure devices function properly under specified conditions. Carry out cosmetic cleaning of devices, ensuring they meet visual and cleanliness standards. Perform basic cosmetic repair on devices, such as addressing minor defects and surface imperfections. Follow In Process Quality Control (IPQC) procedures to inspect products at various stages and document findings. Assemble and kit parts and components according to work instructions and customer requirements. Build pallets and pack out finished kits for shipment, ensuring accurate labeling and secure packaging. Prepare products for shipping by verifying quantities, scanning parts, and completing required documentation. Scan parts at every step of the process to maintain accurate tracking and traceability. Work collaboratively with team members across multiple stations and support cross-training activities. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and quality guidelines. Stand and move throughout the facility for the duration of the shift while performing general labor, assembly, and packing tasks. Use basic tools, test equipment, RF scanners, and computers as required to complete daily tasks. Essential Skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and documenting parts. Ability to stand and be on your feet for the entirety of the workday. Ability to work effectively with others in a team-oriented environment. Willingness to be cross-trained and work in various areas of the 12-step process. Good hand dexterity for handling small parts and performing assembly, cleaning, and repair tasks. Punctuality and reliability in attendance and shift adherence. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standardized procedures. Comfort using basic computer systems for data entry and part tracking. Capability to perform general labor tasks such as lifting, moving, and organizing materials as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in assembly or electronic assembly environments. Picking, packing, stocking, or retail-related work. Experience with repair, refurbishing, or working with repair parts. Familiarity with quality inspection or in-process quality control procedures. Basic soldering experience for electronic components. Experience using test equipment and RF scanners in a production setting. Ability to read and work from simple blueprints or work instructions. Work Environment This role is based in a brand-new, purpose-built facility in Elgin, IL, located approximately half a mile north of I‑90 and half a mile south of Route 72, just off Randall Road and close to gas stations and restaurants. The site includes a locker area and a cafeteria equipped with refrigerators and microwaves for employee use. Work is performed on your feet throughout the shift in a production environment that involves handling electronic modems, using RF scanners, computers, test equipment, and basic power tools. The facility supports a structured 12-step process where parts are scanned at every stage, emphasizing organization, cleanliness, and adherence to quality and safety procedures. Dress code is typical for a production and general labor setting, prioritizing practicality and safety. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00
