Assembler
  • Elgin, IL 5AM-3:30PM
  • $16/hr starting 4PM-2:30AM

MONDAY-THURSDAY SCHEDULE
Job Description This role focuses on the assembly, testing, cleaning, repair, and preparation of electronic modems as they move through a structured, multi-step refurbishment process. You will work on your feet throughout the shift, handle a variety of hands-on tasks, and collaborate closely with team members while being cross-trained across several production areas. Responsibilities Receive incoming modems and accurately document all items received in the system. Perform factory resets by manually activating the reset function on each unit. Set up and run automatic test cycles by plugging in and testing up to 32 units at a time, monitoring longer test cycles of approximately 60-90 minutes. Conduct Wi‑Fi tests to verify connectivity and performance of each modem. Carry out elevated temperature tests to ensure units function properly under specified conditions. Complete cosmetic cleaning of units to meet quality and appearance standards. Perform basic cosmetic repairs on units, such as fixing minor external defects. Support In Process Quality Control (IPQC) by following quality procedures and identifying nonconforming units. Assemble and kit parts and components according to defined work instructions. Pack out finished products, build pallets, and palletize units into kits for shipment. Prepare finished goods for shipping, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation. Scan parts and units at every step of the process to maintain accurate tracking and traceability. Work efficiently within a process where different percentages of modems may complete varying stages of the workflow. Collaborate with team members and support cross-functional tasks as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all workplace and equipment guidelines. Essential Skills Strong attention to detail when handling, testing, and documenting electronic units. Comfort working on your feet for the entirety of the workday. Ability to work effectively with others in a team-based production environment. Willingness to be cross-trained and work in multiple areas of the 12-step process. Good hand dexterity for handling small parts and performing assembly and repair tasks. Punctuality and reliability in adhering to scheduled work hours. Experience or comfort with general assembly work. Ability to perform quality inspection tasks and follow quality standards. Capability to use basic computer systems for documentation and scanning. Ability to follow written instructions, including basic blueprints or work instructions, as applicable. Comfort using general labor skills in a production or warehouse setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with electronic assembly or refurbishment is beneficial. Repair or working with repair parts is a plus. Familiarity with packing, pick and pack operations, and stock handling is advantageous. Experience using test equipment for electronic or technical products is helpful. Ability to use RF scanners for tracking and inventory is an asset. Experience with soldering is a plus for certain repair tasks. Comfort using power tools in a safe and controlled manner. Previous experience in retail, warehouse, or general labor environments may be useful. Why Work Here? The site includes a locker area and a cafeteria equipped with refrigerators and microwaves, providing comfortable spaces for breaks. The location sits approximately half a mile north of I‑90 and half a mile south of Route 72, just off Randall Road and close to gas stations and restaurants for added convenience. The role is active and on your feet throughout the day, involving hands-on work with electronic modems, RF scanners, test equipment, computers, and standard power tools within a production and warehouse environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00
  • $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
