설명 The Role The Assembly Quality Engineer will be a key member of the team developing and industrializing next‑generation battery cells at General Motors' Battery Cell Development Center (BCDC). This role is responsible for establishing and improving quality systems for battery assemblies, with a strong focus on internal alignments, structural integrity, and electrical robustness verified through electrical testing and other inspection methods with a focus on welding quality as it pertains to battery cells. You will collaborate closely with process engineering, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, operations, and suppliers to define critical quality requirements, develop quality controls, and drive structured problem solving from lab to pilot builds through full line scale‑up. What You'll Do Own assembly process quality for the BCDC. Define and maintain critical quality characteristics for stack to formation. Develop and maintain quality documentation (process flow, control plans, risk analyses etc.) for battery assembly operations as it relates to quality engineering. Lead internal alignment verification including, stack dimensions, visual/camera‑based defects, and correlation of alignment with downstream performance. Execute hi‑pot test strategy and analysis for assembled cells/modules. Integrate CT scanning into quality control to predict early failures. Support welding quality and analysis including critical weld/joint parameters, destructive testing, and classification of defects. Maintain measurement systems for key attributes and characteristics. Develop sampling and test strategies for new campaigns of materials. Partner with manufacturing and process engineers for capability requirements, error‑proofing and in‑line monitoring. Lead structured problem solving (e.g., root cause analysis, 5‑Why, fishbone, 8D etc.) for defects and quality events related to battery assembly. Train and coach technicians and operators on critical quality characteristics, inspection standards, and defect recognition. Function as quality engineering support for new material, equipment design, and process changes. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a related engineering discipline or equivalent experience within quality engineering (e.g., manufacturing, metrology, materials, or similar). 3+ years of experience in assembly or manufacturing quality in an automotive, electronics, or similar precision manufacturing environment. Experience with precision mechanical assembly and dimensional / alignment control in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES), data historians, or equivalent systems. Working knowledge of core quality engineering tools including statistical process control (control charts, Cpk), Measurement Systems Analysis (GR&R), and risk analysis tools (FMEA) Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T and tolerance stack‑ups. Experience using data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, JMP, Minitab, or similar) to analyze process and quality data and communicate clear, data‑driven recommendations. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead cross‑functional problem solving and drive issues from containment through permanent corrective actions. Demonstrated commitment to safety in production and test environments. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Experience in battery cell and/or module assembly. Hands‑on experience with electrical battery testing to determine process defects. Exposure to CT scanning or other advanced internal inspection methods. Experience with weld and joint destructive testing. Understanding of battery structure and assembly processes influence electrical performance, safety, and cell durability. Prior experience helping stand up new battery manufacturing lines or pilot operations. Experience with advanced problem‑solving and statistical methods. Practical exposure to welding or joining processes (e.g., resistance, laser, ultrasonic, or equivalent) and weld/joint quality evaluation. Work Environment Role is based at GM's Battery Cell Development Center (BCDC) at the GM Global Technical Center. Requires regular on‑site presence to support battery manufacturing operations. Occasional travel may be required to production plants, suppliers, and partner facilities. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
