Job Description

Summary:
Electronics assembler familiar with point-to-point wiring, PWB assembly, wiring harness fabrication, mechanical assembly to perform various assembly tasks building electronic components and systems Essential Functions and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned) :
  • Perform preparation of electronic component kits for pre-assembly, assembly to next higher level sub-systems and finish work to complete the end item. Includes component prep and mounting, soldering, wiring, PWB assy. techniques, some wiring routing and harness work, and mechanical assembly. Component knowledge, staking, wire routing experience desired.
  • Responsible for self-inspections to engineering drawings and simple diagrams. Familiarity with assembly drawings, simple electrical schematics and parts list desired. Ability to work from sketches and redlines highly desirable.
  • Soldering techniques in accordance with J-STD-001 or equivalent experience desired; professional soldering practices experience required.
  • Perform basic electrical test functions using dedicated test equipment, DMM background and elementary continuity testing.
  • Perform mechanical assy. of electronic equipment in accordance with drawings; alignment and orientation of brackets, chassis, heat sinks and cover assemblies and applying screws, nuts, washers and other fasteners to hold them in place. Good manual dexterity desired.
  • Perform work accurately and in a workmanlike manner.
  • Experience working under low power microscopes and magnifiers desired.
Secondary Functions:
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required
  • Must have strong communication skills, strong work ethic and the ability to interface with individuals from other departments
Position Specifications:
  • One to Two years of electronic assembly, printed wiring and/or harness or wire routing experience, familiarity with electronics manufacturing and construction. Any microelectronic experience is highly desired.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Basic ability to interpret drawings, workmanship standards and related visual aids, follow instructions.
  • Basic arithmetic and reading skills necessary to read drawings, diagrams and lists.
  • Computer capable mainly for elemental data entry
  • Capable of using straightforward manufacturing equipment
  • Any working knowledge with the following military/industrial specifications a definite plus: J-Std- 001 and
IPC-A-610
General Requirements:
  • Vision capability that enables reading and viewing a computer screen
  • Using a microscope with 10x to 40x magnification
  • Manual dexterity suitable for handling small assemblies
  • Ability to function efficiently in a supportive working environment
