Full Job Description Job Title:
Assembler Job Description This role assembles electro-mechanical units by building sub-assemblies that include printed circuit boards and related components, then integrating them into completed units using detailed work instructions, hand tools, and air tools. The assembler supports the full production process from circuit board assembly and testing through final assembly, inspection, and packaging in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Assemble printed circuit boards by inserting applicable through-hole components in accordance with specific work instructions and procedures. Use various hand tools and air tools to perform precise assembly tasks on printed circuit boards and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies. Install sub-assemblies and miscellaneous hardware into unit enclosures at the final assembly level, following detailed work instructions and production procedures. Perform electrical functional testing at both the printed circuit board level and the final assembly level using test fixtures provided by electrical engineering. Conduct visual and functional inspection of assemblies to ensure quality standards and specifications are met. Support packing and packaging activities, including preparing completed units for shipment as needed. Work effectively on an assembly or production line, maintaining a steady workflow to meet production schedules and deadlines. Follow blueprints, diagrams, or written instructions to ensure accurate wiring, mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly. Operate in a cleanroom or basic production environment as required, maintaining a clean and organized workstation. Collaborate with individuals and cross-functional teams to achieve department and production goals. Strive for continuous process improvement in daily activities by identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and safety. Follow through on assigned tasks to completion, ensuring all work meets established standards. Stand at a workstation for extended periods and safely handle components and equipment throughout the shift. Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the use of required personal protective equipment and compliance with dress code and workplace rules. Perform other production-related duties as required to support overall manufacturing operations. Essential Skills Minimum of 4 months of production work experience, preferably within a manufacturing setting. Ability to assemble components using hand tools and power tools, including air tools. Basic electro-mechanical aptitude to support mechanical assembly, wiring, and electrical assembly tasks. Ability to read and follow specific work instructions, procedures, and blueprints. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with tight deadlines. Capability to stand at a workstation for 8 or more hours during the entire shift. Ability to lift up to 26 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily tasks. Strong attention to detail for inspection, wiring, soldering, and mechanical assembly work. Ability to work on production lines and assembly lines, maintaining consistent output and quality. High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Assembler experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Experience with sub-assembly work involving printed circuit boards and electro-mechanical components. Familiarity with soldering, electrical assembly, and inspection processes. Experience assembling items such as furniture or similar products is considered relevant and beneficial. Ability to work cross-functionally with individuals and teams to achieve department and production goals. Demonstrated commitment to continuous process improvement in daily activities. Ability to follow through on tasks to completion with minimal supervision. Comfort working in tight quarters or compact production areas. Willingness to work overtime as needed, including occasional Friday shifts. Availability for 1st Shift (Monday-Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime on Fridays as needed) or 2nd Shift (Monday-Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with potential Friday overtime from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.). Work Environment The role is based in a national manufacturing operation that produces pool equipment and related products in a very fast-paced production setting where meeting deadlines is crucial. The work takes place in a basic production area with tight quarters, and may include cleanroom or controlled environments depending on the task. Team members work at assembly and production lines using hand tools, power tools, and air tools, along with test fixtures provided by engineering. Personal protective equipment, including eye protection and protective shoes, is required at all times, and loose clothing is not permitted. The position requires standing at a workstation for 8 or more hours per shift and handling components and assemblies throughout the day. Multiple shifts are available, including a 1st shift (Monday-Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime as needed on Fridays) and a 2nd shift (Monday-Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with potential Friday overtime from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.). Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Kingstown, RI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
