DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Entry-level position responsible for learning and performing basic assembly tasks under direct supervision. The primary function is to assist in building telecommunications and electronics equipment by assembling components, sub-assemblies, and parts according to work orders, drawings, and verbal instructions. This role provides foundational training in assembly operations, quality standards, and safety protocols while developing technical skills for career advancement within the assembler career path.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assemble basic components and parts following step-by-step instructions and guidance from supervisor or senior assemblers Use basic hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, wire strippers, crimpers) safely and appropriately under supervision Assist with equipment mounting and rack installation tasks as directed Perform visual inspections to ensure parts and assemblies meet quality standards and specifications Conduct basic go/no-go testing as directed by work instructions Identify and report quality issues, defects, equipment problems, or safety concerns to supervisor immediately Maintain clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with 5S standards and safety protocols Follow all safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures Accurately track time and record production activities in company ERP systems Participate actively in training programs to develop assembly skills, technical knowledge, and safety awareness Work collaboratively with team members and ask questions proactively to ensure understanding and prevent errors Package assembled products and components carefully to prevent damage during transportation and storage Follow company policies, procedures, and work instructions at all times Maintain regular attendance and demonstrate reliability Perform other duties as assigned to support assembly operations
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY
No direct reports No supervisory responsibilities Focus is on individual skill development and learning
TRAVEL/SHIFT REQUIREMENTS
No travel required Ability to work standard shift hours with occasional flexibility as needed Overtime may be required during peak production periods Punctuality and reliability are essential
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift and/or push up to 40 lbs safely Able to stand for two or more hours at a time Manual dexterity for handling small components, connectors, and using hand tools Visual acuity for inspecting assemblies, reading labels, and following work instructions Ability to work in manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and conditions Repetitive hand and arm movements for assembly tasks Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as required for assembly work
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and completely Basic mechanical aptitude and genuine interest in learning technical skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Basic computer skills for data entry, email, and system navigation Effective communication skills to ask questions, report issues, and collaborate with team Ability to work both independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively as part of a team Strong work ethic, reliability, and professional attitude Willingness and enthusiasm to learn new technologies, procedures, and assembly methods Basic math skills for measurements, counts, and simple calculations Time management and organizational skills Ability to accept constructive feedback and apply it to improve performance Safety-conscious mindset and adherence to safety protocols
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required 0-1 year of experience in manufacturing, assembly, electronics, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience Willingness to participate in comprehensive on-the-job training programs Ability to demonstrate basic competency in using hand tools
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
Previous experience in electronics, telecommunications, or manufacturing environment Basic knowledge of hand tools and their safe application Familiarity with technical drawings, schematics, or blueprints Completed vocational/technical coursework in electronics, telecommunications, or related field Experience with quality inspection or testing procedures Understanding of ESD protocols and procedures
