Job Title:
Medical Device Assembly Job Description This role focuses on assembling medical devices, specifically oxygen concentrators, in a fast-paced, FDA-regulated manufacturing environment. You will perform mechanical and electronic assembly, follow detailed manufacturing documentation, and ensure that safety and quality standards are consistently met. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with clear pathways for growth into advanced assembly, shipping, inventory, and repair technician roles. Responsibilities Assemble and build oxygen concentrators in accordance with manufacturing documentation, including assembly instructions, travelers, packaging instructions, and configuration logs. Perform prototype inspection, modifications, upgrades, and rework on oxygen concentrators while maintaining strict adherence to quality and configuration requirements. Verify the accuracy and quality of finished assemblies and packaging to ensure they meet established quality standards. Perform mechanical assemblies using a variety of hand tools such as wrenches, drivers, and sockets, as well as appropriate power tools when required. Follow FDA regulations and guidelines for medical device assembly, maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality in all tasks. Assist in maintaining strict configuration controls to ensure products are built to the correct specifications and revisions. Use the ERP system to perform basic transactions related to production and inventory, leveraging basic computer skills to complete required documentation and system entries. Read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, schematics, and other technical documentation to complete assembly and repair tasks accurately. Support troubleshooting and repair of small mechanical devices as needed, applying mechanical repair and diagnostic skills. Communicate clearly with supervisors, team members, and cross-functional partners about work status, issues, and improvement opportunities. Participate in interviews and discussions about prior work experience, answering behavioral and technical questions in a clear and detailed manner. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety procedures and housekeeping standards. Stand for the full duration of the shift and lift items weighing 50 pounds or more as needed to support production. Work mandatory overtime when required, including starting as early as 5:00 a.m. and working some Saturdays, especially at month-end and quarter-end. Essential Skills Hands-on experience in mechanical or electronic assembly in a production or manufacturing environment. Proficiency using hand tools such as wrenches, drivers, sockets, and related mechanical tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and schematics. Experience with mechanical troubleshooting and repair of small devices. Familiarity with quality standards and requirements in a production or regulated environment. Ability to perform basic transactions in an ERP system, such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms. Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and system navigation. Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain work experience and technical tasks during interviews and in daily interactions. Ability to stand for an entire shift and safely lift 50 pounds or more. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where urgency and attention to detail are critical. Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility that operates under FDA regulations and guidelines for medical devices. The environment is fast-paced, with a strong sense of urgency and a high focus on safety and quality in every task. The standard shift runs from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the start time varying by about 30 minutes, and the first day typically beginning at 9:00 a.m. Mandatory overtime may be required, including early start times as early as 5:00 a.m. and some Saturdays, especially at the end of the month and quarter. You will work on your feet for the entire shift and handle materials and products that may weigh 50 pounds or more. The facility uses an ERP system, such as SAP or Oracle, along with standard computer workstations and a range of mechanical and electronic assembly tools, including hand tools and power tools Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
