Job Overview The Assembly Technician is responsible for performing a variety of hands-on production activities, including manual assembly, component installation, hand soldering, product handling, inspection support, rework, and general production support. This role works in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment to help produce reliable, customer-ready Printed Circuit Board Assemblies and related electronic products. This position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a willingness to support different areas of production based on customer needs and production schedules. Assembly Technicians may perform a little of everything, including assembly, soldering, inspection support, rework, and other production tasks as needed. Primary Responsibilities Assembly & Production Perform manual assembly and hand soldering tasks in accordance with work instructions, IPC standards, EDM processes, and customer specifications. Install components, wires, connectors, labels, hardware, and other materials accurately and efficiently. Perform hand soldering of through-hole components and other soldering tasks as required. Support rework and repair activities as needed, ensuring proper solder joints, component placement, and product integrity. Use hand tools, measuring devices, soldering irons, and other production equipment safely and effectively. Read and interpret assembly instructions, drawings, bills of material, customer documentation, and other job-related information. Complete assigned work efficiently while meeting established labor time standards and production expectations. Support production schedules by completing work accurately and on time. Quality & Process Compliance Read, understand, and follow assembly instructions, customer documentation, and EDM procedures. Inspect work throughout the assembly process to ensure accuracy, workmanship, and compliance with quality requirements. Identify and communicate defects, discrepancies, missing information, or concerns to supervisor or quality team members. Follow ESD, safety, quality, and material handling procedures at all times. Support first-pass yield and quality goals through attention to detail, consistency, and care in workmanship. Team Collaboration & Communication Work independently and collaboratively in a team-based production environment. Communicate job status, challenges, material concerns, or improvement opportunities to team members and leadership. Willingly support other assembly or production tasks as needed to meet production goals. Participate in cross-training opportunities to support flexibility across production areas. Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment by supporting coworkers and taking ownership of assigned work. Workspace Organization & Maintenance Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with EDM policies and procedures. Properly handle tools, equipment, materials, and customer products. Follow procedures for labeling, material movement, and moving completed assemblies to the next operation. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a focus on quality Ability to work standing or sitting for extended periods Manual dexterity as it pertains to the use of various hand tools Willingness to be cross trained as required Ability to work alone and in a collaborative team environment Clear and effective communication (verbal and written) Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Windows or Google Suite Total Compensation Our total compensation at EDM looks different from other companies' because we focus on supporting employees beyond just their paycheck. Annual Profit Sharing Bonus:
One of the great financial benefits of joining EDM is our annual profit-sharing bonus plan. While not guaranteed, this bonus typically ranges between 5-15% of an employee's compensation.
ESOP:
After 1 year of service, you will be automatically enrolled in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and become an employee-owner of
EDM. EDM
is a 100% employee-owned company, which means every employee receives stock through annual discretionary profit-sharing contributions, typically ranging from 5-15% of compensation. Over time, employee ESOP account balances grow as EDM's share price increases. 401(k)
Plan:
The 401(k) plan is available to all employees after 1 year of service. EDM matches dollar for dollar up to 3% of compensation.
Other Benefits:
In addition to cash compensation and retirement benefits, EDM currently covers 90% of individual health insurance premiums, and 100% of the premiums for both Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability Insurance. HSA plan participants receive a $1000 annual contribution to their HSA. Additionally, we offer a tuition reimbursement program for job-related education, and a wellness program that supports employees' physical, mental, and financial well-being.
