Assembler 2 Job Description The Assembler 2 builds high-quality electrical propulsion systems and drive train units for railcars and industrial customers in a clean, organized manufacturing environment. Working under the direction of production supervision, this role assembles products according to engineering documentation while meeting production goals, customer specifications, and delivery requirements. The position requires strong attention to detail, consistent quality focus, and effective collaboration with quality technicians, cell leads, supervisors, engineers, and fellow assemblers. Responsibilities Assemble electrical propulsion systems, drive train units, and related products by following engineering documents and work instructions to ensure they meet company product standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements. Operate a computer to check production schedules, review job assignments, and update the manufacturing status of jobs in the system. Perform operator-based Go/No-Go testing according to established procedures to verify product functionality and compliance. Monitor the quality of parts and components used in the assembly process and promptly identify and escalate any issues or defects. Assist in training other employees by sharing knowledge, demonstrating proper assembly techniques, and helping resolve questions and problems. Perform material handling activities as required, including moving parts, components, and assemblies between workstations or storage areas in a safe and efficient manner. Review assembly processes and methods and recommend improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and overall efficiency. Interface with engineering and other technical teams to accurately communicate product, process, and quality information. Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, reject tickets, and production reports accurately and on time. Participate actively in team meetings and group discussions to support continuous improvement and effective communication. Follow and comply with all safety rules, work rules, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment. Maintain housekeeping standards within the department by keeping work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards. Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and resolve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Up to 2 years of experience in assembly or a closely related production role. Ability to assemble products using engineering documents and work instructions. Basic computer skills to check schedules and update job status in manufacturing systems. Ability to perform operator-based Go/No-Go testing according to procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to continually monitor the quality of parts and assemblies. Capability to follow detailed but straightforward written and oral instructions. Ability to solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Effective communication skills to interface with engineering, quality technicians, supervisors, and other team members. Willingness to follow safety rules, work rules, and company policies consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience assembling electrical propulsion systems, drive train units, or similar electro-mechanical products. Prior experience in a fast-paced, detail-oriented manufacturing or production environment. Comfort working in a team-based environment with quality technicians, assemblers, cell leads, supervisors, and engineers. Experience participating in continuous improvement activities and suggesting process enhancements. Ability to assist in training and mentoring other employees on assembly processes and best practices. Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation. Work Environment The role is based in a very clean, organized manufacturing facility focused on electrical assembly of power distribution units and related systems. Work is performed at rotating stations, providing variety in daily tasks and exposure to different stages of the assembly process. The environment is fast-paced and detail-oriented, with close collaboration among quality technicians, assemblers, cell leads, supervisors, and engineers. Standard production shifts are available on both first and second shift, with work governed by established safety rules, work rules, and departmental housekeeping standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
