Job Title:
Electromechanical Technician Job Description The Electromechanical Technician assembles and wires complex electro-mechanical products in a prototype and low-volume production environment. This role focuses on mechanical assembly, point-to-point electrical wiring, soldering, and wire harness assembly while working directly from schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings for new product builds. The technician supports the full build process from initial assembly through button-up and final testing within the electrical assembly department. Responsibilities Perform mechanical assembly of electro-mechanical products using detailed drawings, schematics, and work instructions. Complete point-to-point electrical wiring and wire harness assembly, ensuring accurate routing, termination, and labeling of wires. Carry out soldering tasks on cables, connectors, and assemblies in accordance with quality and safety standards. Assemble boxes, enclosures, and sub-assemblies, then perform button-up and final integration of mechanical and electrical components. Follow schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical prints to build new products in a prototype and low-volume manufacturing environment. Use hand tools and power tools, including power screwdrivers, to assemble, secure, and adjust components and hardware. Inspect assemblies visually and functionally to verify workmanship, identify defects, and ensure adherence to specifications. Support final testing of completed units, assisting with basic troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical issues as needed. Apply basic computer and typing skills to access work instructions, record build information, and document test and inspection results. Use basic math skills to verify measurements, interpret dimensions, and confirm quantities during the assembly process. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other team members in an R D and prototype environment to resolve build issues and improve assembly processes. Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures in a lab and production environment. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or production environment. Proficiency in point-to-point electrical wiring and wire harness assembly, including working with harnessed wires. Ability to perform soldering on electrical and electronic assemblies. Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, mechanical prints, or detailed work instructions. Experience using hand tools and power tools, including power screwdrivers. Basic computer and typing skills to navigate instructions and record data. Basic math skills for measurements, counts, and simple calculations. Experience with electronic assembly and working within an electrical assembly department. Capability to follow detailed instructions and work with minimal supervision once trained. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in prototype builds, R D labs, or low-volume manufacturing environments. Exposure to testing and troubleshooting of electrical or electronic assemblies. Familiarity with inspection, testing, quality assurance, and basic troubleshooting of electronics. Experience with shop tools such as mills, lathes, and drill presses. Any fabrication experience related to mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a standard lab and production environment within a fast-paced engineering consulting setting. You will work around electronic and mechanical assemblies, using hand tools, power tools, and, where applicable, shop equipment such as lathes, mills, and drill presses. The work focuses on prototype builds, R D support, and low-volume manufacturing, with frequent use of schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical prints. Expect a collaborative, hands-on atmosphere where you interact closely with engineers and other technicians. Work hours follow typical lab and production schedules, with tasks performed at benches and workstations designed for assembly, wiring, soldering, and testing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Camas, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
