About the Opportunity UTC Aerospace Systems
  • MAIN is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Assembler I to join its manufacturing team in West Des Moines, Iowa.
This position is ideal for someone interested in starting or building a career in aerospace manufacturing. You will receive hands-on training in assembly-related processes, deburring, air grinding, use of hand tools, and inspection equipment while working toward certification within your first 120 days.
Please note:
This is a 2nd shift position from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM CST . The position is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity . Upon conversion to a permanent position, the expected base pay is approximately $19/hour plus applicable shift differential . Key Responsibilities Disassemble and clean incoming products. Learn and perform deburring and air-grinding operations under supervision. Learn to maintain and operate deburring tools. Learn to read blueprints/prints and verify completed work. Operate hand tools, electric tools, cutters, measuring equipment, and light equipment. Complete production documentation and labor transactions accurately. Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Quality, and Continuous Improvement standards. Participate in safety and continuous improvement activities. Identify and report issues or deviations to leads, supervisors, engineers, or experienced operators. Work overtime, extended shifts, nonstandard hours, and occasional holidays when required. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to work under immediate supervision and perform routine, repetitive tasks. Willingness and ability to work overtime, extended hours, nonstandard schedules, and holidays as business needs require. Must be a U.S. Person due to federal regulations or contracting requirements. Must be able to successfully complete a background check and may be required to complete a drug screen. Preferred Qualifications Ability to learn and understand technical prints/blueprints. Basic computer skills, including email, internet, and document printing. Basic shop math knowledge, including geometric tolerances. Basic problem identification and troubleshooting skills. Ability to learn inspection and deburring tools. Ability to learn deburring and air-grinding operations. Strong communication skills with coworkers and management.
