Job Description
Position Overview Our client is a leading global technology company specializing in advanced networking and communications systems. They are seeking a Mechanical Assembler (Rack System Integration / Test Equipment Builds) to support the integration and build of rack-mounted test equipment and electro-mechanical systems. This role focuses on assembling, wiring, and interconnecting instruments and modules within test enclosures in a lab or high-tech manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Assemble and integrate electronic instruments, modules, and sub-assemblies into rack-mounted test systems and enclosures. Install mechanical components such as brackets, housings, connectors, standoffs, and heat sinks. Perform cable assembly, soldering, and interconnect wiring between instruments within rack systems. Connect AC/DC power systems (110-220 VAC and 48VDC) in an unpowered state; verify with engineering support. Install and connect fiber optic cables between instruments (unpowered; engineering verification required). Execute test software to validate proper system assembly and functionality. Use hand tools and measurement equipment while following ESD and safety procedures. Inspect assemblies for quality, alignment, and completeness; document results and escalate issues as needed.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. 2-4 years of mechanical, electro-mechanical, or equipment assembly experience. Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and BOMs. Experience using hand tools and working with small components and hardware. Basic soldering and cable assembly experience. Familiarity with ESD-safe practices. Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.Preferred:
Experience assembling rack-mounted systems, test equipment, or lab instrumentation. Exposure to AC/DC wiring and fiber optic connections. IPC soldering certification. Experience in electronics manufacturing, systems integration, or lab environments. Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S practices. Work Environment High-tech lab and systems integration environment with strict ESD and safety standards. Work involves rack system builds and instrument integration (not PCB-level assembly). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Combination of sitting and standing for extended periods. All electrical and fiber connections are performed in an unpowered state and verified by engineering staff.Similar remote jobs
