Mechanical Assembler Job Description The Mechanical Assembler assembles discrete conveyor equipment and performs final system assembly and testing by following detailed drawings, work instructions, and established procedures. This role uses a wide range of hand and power tools, fabrication equipment, and pneumatic systems while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Assemble equipment by following drawings and written assembly procedures. Perform final system assembly and testing to ensure equipment operates safely and according to specifications. Use hand and power tools, as well as fabrication equipment such as shears, brakes, saws, and milling machines, to complete mechanical assemblies. Read and interpret pneumatic schematics and run airlines accurately to support system functionality. Apply established standards, processes, and procedures to maintain workplace safety and product quality. Inspect parts and equipment during assembly and promptly inform supervisors of any defects or issues. Conserve materials, resources, and supplies to minimize waste and support efficient operations. Follow the attendance policy and consistently arrive on time and ready to work assigned schedules. Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area, including performing housekeeping duties as required. Work collaboratively in team-based assembly cells while keeping up with production pace and quality expectations. Use basic mechanical, electrical, and wiring knowledge to support conveyor and system assembly. Demonstrate strong attention to detail by verifying component placement, alignment, and fastener torque as needed. Support cross-training efforts by learning new tasks and assisting teammates with various assembly operations. Stand and work safely for extended periods, including beyond an 8-hour workday when required. Lift and handle materials and components weighing up to 48 pounds in a safe and controlled manner. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED equivalent. At least one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing environment. Basic understanding of electrical procedures and strong mechanical aptitude. Proficiency with hand and power tools used in mechanical assembly. Ability to read and interpret pneumatic schematics and run airlines. Experience working with conveyor systems, motors, gears, and mechanical assemblies. Basic math skills to support measurements, counts, and simple calculations. Clear verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions and report issues. Strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated desire to learn. High level of attention to detail to ensure quality and safety in all work. Self-managed work style with the ability to stay productive without close supervision. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment and meeting performance goals. Ability to commit to dynamic schedules and maintain punctuality. Capability to safely stand and work for extended periods, including beyond an 8-hour shift. Ability to lift materials in excess of up to 48 pounds safely and repeatedly. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical conveyor equipment. Familiarity with motors, gears, mechanical drives, and related components. Exposure to wiring and basic electrical work in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Comfort using fabrication equipment such as shears, brakes, saws, and milling machines. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with other assemblers.
