Mechanical Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling trailer and truck-mounted asphalt equipment from the ground up by following documented manufacturing procedures. The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and involves both sub-assembly of individual components and final assembly into complete, finished units using a variety of hand and power tools. Responsibilities Perform mechanical assembly operations in accordance with documented manufacturing procedures to build trailer and truck-mounted asphalt equipment from initial components to finished products. Use basic hand and power tools to sub-assemble individual components such as engine cabinets, control boxes, shovel cleaning compartments, and related assemblies. Assist with basic electrical tasks, including some wiring, during the sub-assembly and final assembly processes. Use basic hand and power tools to assemble sub-components into the final manufactured unit, ensuring proper fit, function, and quality. Mount 2-4 ton capacity hoppers to trailer frames, ensuring secure installation and alignment. Install control boxes and wiring harnesses, ensuring accurate routing, secure connections, and adherence to specifications. Install and integrate a variety of heating systems, including LP and diesel burners, as part of the final assembly. Interpret and follow blueprints and schematics to correctly assemble mechanical, electrical, and upfitting components. Work with diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, and 12-volt systems as needed to support proper operation of the equipment. Collaborate with team members in the shop to coordinate workflow and maintain production schedules. Maintain a clean and organized work area and use tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on mechanical assembly experience. Proficiency using basic hand and power tools for mechanical assembly tasks. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Experience with mechanical assembly in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with basic electrical and wiring tasks related to assembly work. Comfort working with diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Ability to perform upfitting tasks on vehicles or trailers. Strong attention to detail and commitment to following documented procedures. Ability to work safely in an industrial, sheet metal manufacturing environment. Capability to work a Monday-Thursday, 3:00 PM-1:30 AM shift (4x10 schedule). Additional Skills & Qualifications Certified Diesel Technician or similar experience is a plus. Experience with hydraulics and other power transmission systems is preferred. Experience with 12-volt electrical systems is preferred. Experience in vehicle upfitting and trailer-related work is beneficial. Comfort working with diesel burners, LP burners, and heating systems. Previous experience in a sheet metal or fabrication shop environment is advantageous. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a spacious, clean, and well-organized industrial sheet metal manufacturing shop. The environment includes a wide range of machines, tools, and equipment, creating a dynamic and hands-on setting. You will work alongside approximately 50 colleagues across different departments, fostering a collaborative and team-oriented atmosphere. The standard schedule follows a Monday-Thursday, 3:00 PM-1:30 AM shift (4x10), with optional work available on Fridays. The setting is industrial and tool-intensive, so you can expect a practical, production-focused environment with appropriate safety practices and attire for a manufacturing shop. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Branch, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $27.00/hr.
