Machine Assembler Job Description The Machine Assembler builds custom machinery by reading and interpreting technical drawings, positioning and assembling components, and ensuring each machine operates correctly and reliably. This role works with a wide range of tools and equipment to fabricate, assemble, and align parts for one-of-a-kind machines in a clean and organized manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings, assembly drawings, blueprints, and schematics to build custom machines accurately. Assemble, install, and align mechanical and electrical components and sub-assemblies according to specifications. Use hand tools and power tools to fit, fasten, and secure parts during the assembly process. Fabricate parts as needed using machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and saws. Operate cranes and specialized lifting equipment to safely move and position heavy components during assembly. Perform wiring and basic electrical assembly tasks based on schematics and diagrams. Troubleshoot assembly issues and identify root causes of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems. Collaborate with engineering to resolve assembly problems and clarify technical requirements. Apply basic welding skills when needed to support fabrication and assembly work. Work safely and efficiently in an industrial manufacturing environment, following all safety procedures and guidelines. Support continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to assembly methods, tooling, and processes. Assist with testing and verification of machine function to ensure proper operation before delivery. Essential Skills Proven custom machine building experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Ability to read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings, assembly drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools in a mechanical assembly setting. Mechanical aptitude with experience in assembly, fitting, and alignment of components and sub-assemblies. Basic electrical knowledge, including reading electrical schematics and performing wiring tasks. Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical assembly issues. Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Ability to safely use cranes and specialized equipment to move and position parts. Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics in a machinery or equipment context. Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications Two-year technical degree or equivalent technical education is a plus. Experience with welding in a fabrication or assembly environment is preferred. Hands-on experience with hydraulics, including hoses, valves, and cylinders, is beneficial. Mechanical repair or mechanic experience, especially on industrial equipment, is an advantage. Forklift experience or certification is preferred. Comfort using machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and saws. Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to consult with engineering to resolve issues. Interest in working on custom, one-of-a-kind machines rather than repetitive production work. Why Work Here? You join a growing organization with a structured career path and clear opportunities for advancement from level 1 to level 3. The company emphasizes internal promotion and provides mentorship from highly experienced assemblers, helping you build your skills and confidence over time. Because all machines are custom, your work stays varied and engaging, ensuring you rarely do the same build twice. With ambitious goals to significantly grow over the next decade, you have the opportunity to develop your career and grow alongside the organization in a stable, forward-looking environment. Work Environment You work in a clean, well-lit, and organized facility that supports focused and safe assembly work. The operation is mid-sized, with around 25 employees across the shop and office, creating a collaborative environment where you can get to know your colleagues and see the direct impact of your work.
